OpenCode access API usage tutorial

Basic introduction

OpenCode is an AI coding agent tool specially built for terminals. It provides command line users with an efficient development experience through optimized keyboard operation processes. Its client/server split architecture not only supports local operation, but also enables remote control through mobile applications.

Install OpenCode

The official OpenCode CLI program can be installed via the NPM command below

In addition, the OpenCode official website https://opencode.ai also provides other installation methods such as application plug-ins.

Access steps

1️⃣Initialization service provider (Provider)

Don't start OpenCode directly yet, instead execute the following command in the terminal:

Then in the service provider list, select other (at the bottom, you can search directly).

You will be prompted to enter the Provider ID:
Please fill in a unique identification name (for example, wolfai), and subsequent configurations must be strictly consistent with it.

Then enter the API Key token:
Feel free to fill in anything (such as admin) as the actual key can be safely referenced via the configuration file (see next step).

The purpose of this step is to let OpenCode register a custom service provider in the local credential manager to facilitate subsequent reference of the key.

2️⃣Modify configuration file to access API

Open the OpenCode configuration directory (the file path varies by system):

macOS/Linux: ~/.config/opencode/

Windows: Users\yourusername.config\opencode

Create or edit the configuration file: opencode.json in this directory. The file content is as follows:

3️⃣Restart and verify

After saving the configuration file, restart and run OpenCode:

Enter the command in the chat API:

You can see the transfer station you configured and its model (such as "GPT-5.2") in the model list. Once selected, you can use it normally!

Notes

Provider ID must be consistent: the key name in the configuration file (such as deeprouter) must be exactly the same as the ID entered during auth login (case-sensitive).

API token: For token grouping, it is recommended to use Default grouping (available for all models), open unlimited quota, never expire, and keep everything else as default.

API address format: Make sure the baseURL is correct. You can first use curl or Postman to test whether it responds to /v1/models.

For model IDs to match: the key under models (such as gpt-5) must be consistent with the model ID actually supported by WolfAI.

If the modified configuration does not take effect, please try to completely exit OpenCode and restart it.
